Styling A Cape Blazer

Summer is well underway but we're still getting colder temperatures in the evening. My way to beat them? Add a cape blazer!

I bought this white cape blazer from Zara a couple of months ago and whenever I wear it, I get asked where it's from countless times and the second most common question is - 'what can I wear it with?'
Here are three ideas how you can style a cape blazer for the early summer days.

1. All black and a dash of white

Paired with black, this jacket really is a stand-out piece and I love the look of it with trousers as it has a long-line cut. If it's a bit chilly, go for something with lace sleeves to balance the look out and have an interesting detail peeping out from beneath the cape sleeves. Also, wearing a cape blaze with trousers does give off Khaleesi vibes no? ;)

2. Wear it with a crop-top

I wore this blazer again with a more colourful look for an event and I paired it with this bright blue crop-top, skinny jeans and colourful shoes and I must say it worked well too! The blazer balances the look all over, lending it a more sophisticated, structured feel and tones down the bright colours.

3. Chic in Monochrome

For the last day of shows at Malta Fashion Week, I wore this blazer again, this time with a knee-length dress which I found still works well with this blazer. I love how this whole look turned out and it is possibly one of my favourite ways to wear this blazer.

See, cape blazers are not as tricky as we think they are! Which outfit is your favourite?

The Love For Maltese Tiles - MADUMA

If you haven't got the memo yet, there's a new local fashion brand in town and it's all about the iconic Maltese patterned floor tiles - MADUMA.

MADUMA is the first organic t-shirt brand in Malta and as soon as I saw their page being advertised on Facebook I knew I wanted to get one of these t-shirts. Of course that is precisely what I did as soon as the brand launched it's online shop last month and now here I am showing it to you!

I got the grey floral pattern t-shirt in a size XS and it fits perfectly. It was the perfect thing to wear for a late Sunday lunch at the Fortina Spa Resort's The Terrace restaurant that overlooks Marsamxett Harbour and Valletta in the distance. I must admit I am not a fan of t-shirts but this one felt very comfortable and while they're coming back into fashion, might as well embrace the trend!

I paired with this pair of grey denims I had purchased a couple of years ago from Promod for the stitching is the same colour as the t-shirt print. I finished the look with these Zara white leather sling-backs and floral applique bag which is not new to this blog.

This has got to be one of the comfiest outfits I have ever worn and I am also looking to buy another t-shirt from the range because I love this one so much!

Maltese cement tiles are re-gaining popularity and what used to be a signature feature in traditional Maltese houses is now adorning floors of modern homes...and the MADUMA t-shirts!

It's a Luxury Kind Of Thing - My 28th Birthday Outfit

Part of my birthday celebrations was of course a special dinner with my better half at Il-Wejla by Taratun at Smart City. We had to postpone our dinner for a week later but I wanted to share with you what was still technically my birthday outfit.

Dress, Michael Kors | Shoes, Gianvito Rossi
Bag, Furla | Scarf, Burberry

These pictures were taken the day after though because I wanted the best possible light for this outfit. I went for a classic little black dress paired with some new items that I got and was gifted for the occasion and my Gianvito Rossi pumps.

Of course the star item in this outfit is the monogrammed Burberry scarf. It came in very handy once we were out of the restaurant into the rather chilly air. I love the dress too - the cut flatters my frame and figure and the lace detail at the back is just gorgeous! You all know I am obsessed my Gianvito Rossi's so it was not up for discussion which shoes I was going to wear and I completed the outfit with my boyfriend's gift - the Furla bag. I must admit I felt quite special in this outfit and I even wore my Rouge Louboutin lipstick and Loubilaque to complete the makeup look and add to luxury factor. Oh and for the record it did last all throughout the meal without the need for retouching!

Feeling Good in Grey

I've said it countless times, I prefer summer over winter but the change cannot be averted, so I try to do things that still make me feel good. I can't help but feel a little down when I wake up to dull weather (it's currently 9:30am here but the skies look like it's 9pm) but I still have to go on with my days and make it a point to have something good to look forward to every single day.

Feeling good to me is all about being in harmony with yourself and the closest ones around you. Trying on new things, even though they might be out of my comfort zone, more often than not end up in happy experience that make me feel good. For this outfit post, I am embracing the fishnet-tights-under-ripped-jeans trend, which is not something I would go for in a whim but it ended up being an outfit that I felt good in! Read on to see why :)

Sweater, earrings & sunglasses, & Other Stories | Jeans and shoes, Zara
Clutch, ALDO | Chunky ring & bangles, Mango | Midi-rings, I AM Accessories

I am not a fan of excessively ripped jeans - I feel they don't really tie in with my style and personality but this pair from Zara is just perfect! It only has a few rips here and there and I really like wearing it just because it is so comfortable. For this outfit, I took a page of the cool girls' book and tried wearing fishnet tights under my ripped denims. I must admit I really like how it turned out and I felt so good in this outfit, I would definitely wear it again!

Speaking of feeling good, the top I am wearing in these pictures is probably one of my most comfy ones and has definitely helped with the feel good factor. I got it last January from & Other Stories in Milan I usually stick to buying accessories from the brand as their clothes tend to fit quite loose on my petite frame and I honestly feel like I'm drowning in the clothes but I guess this sweater is an exception. I love that the collar stands firm and the fit is everything! Grey is one of my favourite colours and I really do feel I am in my element whenever I am wearing it. Another important element of an outfit for me to feel really good in, is a good pair of heels, thus, it goes without saying that pairing the outfit with one of my favourite pair of shoes at the moment brought everything together, going on to show that basic doesn't have to be boring!

This outfit ticks all the right boxes for me to feel good in, a good pair of jeans, heels and a comfy sweater, plus trying on something new - you never know, you might end up liking it! Good feelings are contagious - smile more, appreciate the small things in life and wear pretty clothes! After all, life is too short to wear boring outfits!

Weather Transitions & Pink Flute Sleeves

Transitioning to the colder months is not something that makes me jump with joy - I live on a Mediterranean island and I love summer! There is a part of me that likes coats though and I still think that winter clothes are chicer. To further strengthen my belief, this year's fashion is right up my alley - pretty pinks, daring reds, flute sleeves...

One coat I really look forward to wearing a lot this year is this pink one from Zara. I had originally bought it to wear during Malta Fashion Week but since the weather in May was really hot here, the coat was no longer an option. I even had some pictures taken with the outfit I intended to wear a few weeks before but I never got to share them with you so here they are, on the first day of Autumn! Mind you, it's still a little hot but it's never to early to start looking for new outfit inspiration ;)

These pictures were taken at the Garden of Serenity in Santa Lucija. The garden was open to the public in 1997 and it is a very well preserved example of oriental architecture in Malta - something that is very different to the buildings and construction sites we are used to so much on this tiny island. Although located in a rather busy road, somehow, the garden still manages to evoke feelings of tranquility to everyone who visits - waterfalls, ponds housing Koi fish, Chinese Pagoda like structures... if you're looking for a little zen, this is the place to go! In fact, I love this place so much that we even took pictures for another post that's coming up in the next few days. Special thanks to my dad for taking the pictures :)

Bag, ALDO

Knowing that flute sleeves are here to stay and that pink is one of the in colours this season, I breathed a sigh of relief for I really want the make the most out of this pretty number. I paired the coat with a crochet top that I bought a couple of years ago from Mango, a pair of smart joggers from Zara and silver heels, also from Zara. I just love the detail at the back of the shoes - the gold tone and cut-out sides really add interest to it and it works very well with sever pieces in my wardrobe as does the bag; it happens to be one of my favourite purchases from Aldo and even though it's from last year's collection, it is still one I look forward to pairing with several outfits.

How do you feel about winter fashion and moving on to colder days?

The Off-Shoulder Dress

Hey everyone :) Today I have another outfit post from our weekend getaway in Gozo. Our choice for dining out on Saturday evening was Il-Logga restaurant in Xaghra which is just a 5 minute walk from where we were staying. This provided us with the perfect opportunity to go for a walk a little earlier than our reservation time to take in the beautiful surroundings at this time of day and get the outfit pictures taken by my ever patient better half.

The restaurant is part of a small boutique hotel overlooking Xaghra valley. You can even see the beautiful blue waters in the distance and the statue of Our Lord the Saviour atop the Tal-Merżuq hill.

I wanted something sweet and comfortable for dinner and this dress really fit the bill. I paired it with these embroidered gold shoes and my Diane von Furstenberg Gallery bag.

For makeup, I went for a little more colour than the usual neutrals. I had received some products from Flormar a few days before, one of which was this beautiful emerald eyeshadow which matched the dress perfectly and I had to somehow include it in my look for the night. I applied it just under my bottom lashes for a hint of colour against the dark pink/purple on my eyelids. The mascara from the same collection is perfect to give oomph to the lashes - my better half thought I was wearing falsies! The bronzer provided the perfect finishing touch to give a sun-kissed look to my skin :)

Postcards from Gozo

I spent last weekend playing tourist with my better half on the idyllic island of Gozo. It is much more quiet and green than Malta and that makes it a favourite getaway destination with locals and tourists alike. Summer in Gozo is as alluring as winter with plenty of things to do apart from topping up your tan one of the spectacular beaches. Moreover, Gozo magically helps you transition into a calmer mood as soon as you board the ferry.

On Saturday Morning, following the ubiquitous trip to Rabat, the island's capital, for some traditional pastizzi, we made our way to ar il-Mixta on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Nadur.

The name of the cave derives from 'maxtura' which translates to 'cot' in English. This open cave overlooks the beautiful Ramla l-Ħamra bay which is characterised by the red sand along the shore which cannot be found anywhere else on our islands, hence the name of the bay (ħamra meaning red).

Għar il-Mixta, with the tranquil views of the bay is really postcard material and provides a really nice backdrop for pictures. Speaking of postcards, I wore this bralet on the day which has this beautiful postcard print, reminiscent of Dolce and Gabbana designs. I bought it off Asos during their sales and
I opted to let it be the stand out piece in this outfit by styling it with high waisted white shorts and this gorgeous pair of gold embellished slides.

The bag was an obvious choice as I can't get enough of it for it goes with so many colours and outfits! This outfit is perfect for strolls in the summer heat. I wore minimal jewellery, with my favourite article being the faux opal earrings. Opal is my birthstone, something I am quite fond of because of the many colours and forms the stone can be found in.

That was one colourful outfit! Wish you all a fabulous week :)
